Terroir means the complete natural environment in which a particular crop is produced, including things like soil, topography, and climate.
It’s a French word — you say it “ter-wah” — but in Daylesford, Victoria it resonates with the philosophy of our inviting bistro. We want our customers to feel like our friends, they are a vital part of our terroir.
At the heart of our bistro is Chef/Owner Matthew Carnell. Bistro Terroir brings Matthew’s accomplished skills, including as a chef at a Michelin 2 Star restaurant in France, to Daylesford.
Matthew has a passion for local food and drinks, combined with exceptional chef abilities and an innate sense of the whole dining experience. Over the past decade, Matthew has collected an impressive array of food, wine, produce and restaurant experience as well as many awards. Having seen the bright lights; now is Matthews time to connect with the local community and share fine French bistro style food, in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere.
And we’re back
Bistro Terroir is thrilled to be returning for dining-in from Wednesday 1 June.
We will be open Wednesday through Monday, with Mondays for dinner only. On weekends, we are offering dine-in sittings at 6pm and 8pm, with a 15 minute break between sittings to sanitise the restaurant. Our famous take away will also continue.
We have a new sanitising station for use on entry, and we ask that guests either download the CovidSafe app or leave their details with us on entry.
