We are a neighbourhood French Bistro. Your place to savour beautiful French food, together with a carefully selected drinks range.

The quick rendezvous. An extended liaison. A private indulgence.

Terroir means the complete natural environment in which a particular crop is produced, including things like soil, topography, and climate.

It’s a French word — you say it “ter-wah” — but in Daylesford, Victoria it resonates with the philosophy of our inviting bistro. We want our customers to feel like our friends, they are a vital part of our terroir.

Bistro Terroir offers each long weekend the chance to hire out our Pic-Niq tables, wine glasses and map to favourite spots in the area. We have Picnic packs for 2 - 4 people, starting from $120 with wine for 2 people and $210 for 4 people. Including the choice of Rose, White or Red with enough food to feed a small French army. Bistro Terroir are offering over the long weekend sTakeaway PIC-NIQ hampers. Designed for 2–4 people you will receive a large platter of our House made charcuterie, Baguette, Dessert, Wine and other goodies.

Hampers start at, $120 with Wine or $200 with Champagne for 2. 

$210 with Wine or $280 with Champagne for 4.

The Chef

At the heart of our bistro is Chef/Owner Matthew Carnell. Bistro Terroir brings his accomplished skills, including as a chef at a Michelin 2 Star restaurant in France, to Daylesford.

Matthew has a passion for local food and drinks, combined with exceptional chef abilities and an innate sense of the whole dining experience. Over the past decade, Matthew has collected an impressive array of food, wine, produce and restaurant experience as well as many awards. Having seen the bright lights; now is Matthews time to connect with the local community and share fine French bistro style food, in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere.

Bookings

Bookings are now open. Wednesday Through Sunday Dinner and Friday through Sunday for lunch

We will be moving to our winter hours as of the 24th of May, they will be,

Tuesday - Thursday A la Carte Dinner 5:30pm - Late

Friday -Saturday Chefs 5 course dinner 6pm- Late

Thursday - Saturday A la Carte Lunch 12 noon - 3pm 

We ask all guests placing a reservation to please remember If unable to attend, please amend, reschedule or cancel as early as possible. If your booking numbers change or you’re not able to make your booking on time please call to let us know. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Functions at COQ

COQ is an intimate events and functions space in the heart of Daylesford, VIC located at 8 Howe Street.

COQ offers both stand up and sit down functions and works in conjunction with the award winning restaurant and Chef at Bistro Terroir. It showcases seasonal French classics set in a contemporary modern space and is perfect for any function or event.
